How this site was developed....

Over the past five years Community Health Resource Center has completed dozens of research and consulting contracts and trained hundreds of individuals in community health program design and evaluation.  We also have fielded hundreds of telephone calls and emails from people seeking community health information.

Over time we discovered a core group of questions that people ask over and over again.  We also became frustrated by the fact that a lot of the information we collected and gave out was only used by the people who asked for it.

Slowly but surely we realized that the Internet would provide a more efficient vehicle for receiving questions, giving answers, and capturing information assets for everyone to use.  We proceeded to identify 15 general questions that are commonly asked by people involved in community health improvement.  We then built this web site to help people address the questions shown below.

1.  How can I get the business sector interested in community health improvement?
2.  How can I get health care providers interested in community health improvement?
3.  What is a good framework for evaluating community health status and setting goals?
4.  How can we get our community to mobilize around community health improvement?
5.  How should we define "access to health care," and the factors that affect it?
6.  How can we tackle chronic illness in the community?
7.  How can we do a better job of health promotion?
8.  How can we get started on community collaboration?
9.  How can we get started on a community assessment?
10.        How do you design effective, measurable community health programs?
11.How can we plan a practical, affordable program evaluation?
12.        How can I get connected with other people in my interest area?
13.        Where can I find quick information on community health, model programs and best practices?
14.Where can I find special data sets, especially for subpopulations and small geographic areas?
15.How can I share a good resource with other people working on similar issues?
